Not everyone knew the truest side of King Melian besides his daughter Valenia. For everyone, Melian ruled the elves with compassion and a firm hand, and was known to keep the dragons at bay by his strict defensive strategies. But Valenia knew the man under the crown was selfish, and wanted only what was best for his own greed. For many years she tried to be supportive of his ruling, until finally relenting. There was no place for her inside the castle walls, she thought, and fled across Avendell. On her runaway, she discovered the other side of the story: the Dragon Followers, who just wanted to live freely and unbothered. On their behalf, she returned to the castle and fought for peace and belonging rather than defiance between elves and dragons, but her father disapproved of her manners, and ignored her wishes. So, once her father secretly stole a dragon egg from a dragon’s den, she ran to meet with the Dragon Followers and told them everything about her father’s doings.
Now, the war would come, and she would be by the dragons’ side.
